Narok University College, a Constituent College of Moi University was established in July 2008.

Presently, it has seven (7) Schools offering various degree and diploma programmes.

The University College is situated two (2) kilometers from Narok town, off Narok Sotik road and next to the Maasai Mara junction.

Qualifications and Requirements for the Vacant Academic Positions

Associate Professor

Applicants must have a PhD degree or its academic equivalent from a recognized University.

In addition, they should also:
  • Have at least 4 years of teaching and research since becoming senior lecturer
  • Have at least 4 articles in refereed journals since appointment as Senior Lecturer.
  • have supervised post graduate degree candidates
  • have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars and workshops
  • Should show evidence of membership of professional societies
  • Should be recognized and registered by relevant professional boards
  • Should show evidence of contribution to University as well as national and international life.
  • Should show evidence of attracting research funds
Senior Lecturer

Applicants must be holders of a relevant PhD degree from a recognized institution.

In addition, they must also
  • Have at least five (5) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as full-time lecturer
  • Have successfully supervised at least four (4) masters students
  • Show evidence of continuing research including published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed Senior Lecturer
  • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops
  • Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities leadership and good quality teaching.
Lecturer

Applicants must be holders of a relevant PhD degree from a recognized University institution.

In addition, they must also:
  • Have a Masters degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized academic institution plus at least 2 years of teaching experience at University level after obtaining a Masters degree and at least 2 publications in referred journal(s)
  • Have presented at least three (3) Seminar papers or has two (2) publications in referred journals or a University level book by a reputable publisher
  • Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities leadership and good quality teaching.
Assistant Registrar (Academic Affairs)

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a Masters degree in a relevant area from a recognized university.
  • Have a Bachelors degree in a relevant area with at least five years experience.
  • Have at least five (5) years work experience in a busy examination body or university admission office at the level of Senior Administrative Assistant.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Have a wide knowledge in the administration of examinations.
  • Have a high integrity and excellent interpersonal skills.
Those with Bachelors degree in a relevant area with at least eight years experience in the university academic administration, specifically in student admission and examination administration will also be considered.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of activities in the following areas within the division of Academic Affairs- recruitment and admission, examinations, room scheduling and timetabling, student records and transcripting.

Audit Assistant

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance/Commerce
  • CPA(K) or equivalent professional qualifications
  • at least 4 years relevant work experience in a large organization or a busy audit firm
  • Computer proficiency and be familiar with accounting packages and Microsoft suite
  • They must also possess good analytical and interpersonal and communication skills
Among other duties, successful applicants should be able to:
  • Establish risk based audit programs

  • Lecturer (scale: 12) - Ksh. 65,192 x 2122 - 77.924 x 3006 - 92,954/- p.m.
  • Assistant Registrar (Academic Affairs) (scale: 12) - Ksh. 61,792x2012-73,864x2507-81,385/-p.m.
  • Audit Assistant (scale: 9) - Ksh.26,128x1008-31,168x1332-37,828/-p.m.
In addition successful candidates shall be entitled to a generous house allowance commensurate with their seniority.

JITIHADA Kenya’s National Business Plan Competition 2011 - 2012

The Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), in collaboration with the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and TechnoServe (K) are pleased to invite entrepreneurs in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector in Kenya to apply for participation in JITIHADA II, which is running up to July 2011.

JITIHADA is the brand name Kenya’s National Business Plan Competition, which was launched in 2009. It is a subcomponent of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Competitiveness Project, a World Bank funded initiative under the Ministry of Industrialization.
 

The primary objective of the project is to increase productivity and employment in the MSME sector in Kenya. The Second Phase of Jitihada (JITIHADA II) is running from June 2011 to
 June 2012. JITIHADA II lays emphasis on value addition in the MSME.

Value Addition

Value addition is improvement and enrichment of a product or service before it is offered to customers. JITIHADA II is placing emphasis on value addition within the manufacturing understanding of the notion of value adding.

Manufacturing involves changing of a product, usually from a raw material form, or from a form close enough to raw material, to a finished good. Manufacturing may also involve production of semi finished goods which another person, or firm, can convert into finished goods.
 

Detailed understanding of manufacturing in the Kenyan context can be gleaned from the Kenya International Standard of Industrial Classification (ISIC Revision 3) of June 2002.

Further details may also be obtained from the JITIHADA Secretariat at the Kenya Institute of Management, the lead implementing partner in JITIHADA II.

The Position

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Develop market and monitor Corporate Banking liability and relationship of the portfolio with the aim of ensuring the Bank remains competitive and keeps track with the dynamic Corporate Banking environment.
  • Retain existing customer base and market for new business to grow portfolio
  • Develop, market and monitor Corporate Banking liabilities portfolio with the aim of ensuring the Bank remains competitive and keeps track with the dynamic Corporate Banking environment
  • Grow the Bank’s Market share through the delivery of innovative Corporate Banking products and services through the product/service matrix

The Person
  • Will have a minimum first degree from a recognized University.
  • Possession of a post graduate degree or professional qualification in a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Have minimum 6 years’ experience in Relationship Management with at least 3 years in a senior management role
  • Have ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Have the ability to make prompt decisions and be independent in problem solving in assigned duties.
  • Possess Public Relationship skills in both formal and social gatherings and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with those interacted with in the course of carrying out duties.
  • Must possess sound knowledge of Bank products and problem solving techniques.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, be open minded and have the ability to identify alternative solutions and business opportunities.
  • Possess the ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
