NMC NETWORK SURVEILLANCE-SHIFT TECHNICIAN

REF: TECHNICAL_NMC-NS-ST_JAN 2012
Reporting to the Shift Support Team Manager; the holder of the position will ensure proper monitoring and detection of faults in the entire network coupled with timely and correct escalation to the various maintenance teams so as to meet the set network KPI’S.
Key Responsibilities
  • Network element fault identification, diagnosis, reporting, follow-up & fault clearance.
  • Proper fault escalation and network updates.
  • Perform proper reaction time for faults in the network.
  • Conduct proper 1st level fault clearance.
  • Control of works orders execution and ensure network quality.
  • NMC daily reports
Minimum requirements
  • University degree in electrical/electronics with a bias in telecommunications or Computer science.
  • Excellent communication and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical skills, a team player, results oriented.
  • Must have a flexible attitude to working times or arrangements.
  • Must have a passion for serving others;.
  • CCNA certification will be an added advantage.

PRINCIPAL REVENUE ASSURANCE ANALYST

Principal Revenue Assurance Analyst

Senior Manager-Revenue Assurance, the holder of the position will provide the company with a holistic view of the trends and movements in all streams of revenue and subscriber numbers, give explanations on causes and effect, provide insights into the competitor’s actions and drive changes to maintain projected revenues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the process of performing revenue trends and data mining to detect abnormal activity and possible revenue loss.
  • Provide management with information on cause and effect on changes in revenue trends and maintain a master revenue dashboard.
  • Manage the process of subscriber profiling and churn management.
  • Profile subscribers and determine subscribers who are likely to churn and assess these subscribers value to the company.
  • Perform competitor’s analysis, by gathering intelligence data on the competitor and profile competitor’s products and Services.
  • Perform an analysis of promotions held and provide a report on their impact on revenue.
  • Highlight any problem with revenue growth programs early enough and liaise with program owners to enable them repackage or change the program parameters.
  • Perform analysis on all pricing and Tariffs changes done and report on their impact to revenue and subscribers base.
  • Review completeness and accuracy of information in the management information systems and business intelligence systems;
Minimum requirements
  • At least a second class honors upper degree in business related course from a recognized university.
  • At least 5 years experience in an organization with business intelligence tools, carrying out financial reporting and analysis.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to monitor and explain trends and variances.
  • Proficiency in reporting tools like Crystal Reports, ProClarity, Cognos, etc.
  • Strong IT skills-word processor, spreadsheets, database  application(e.g. SQL or oracle).
  • Have an eye for details.
  • Experience gained in a similar position within a telecommunications environment, knowledge of ACL or professional accounting qualifications will be added advantages.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Regional Network Rollout & Optimization Western, the holder of this position will bein charge of Implementation of radio and transmission optimization projects and other telecoms works on BTS, BSC &MSC sites in existing Safaricom network in line with delivering an integral quality network within reduced CAPEX andOPEX.
Key Responsibilities
  • Take part in site surveys for any optimization  & upgrade works to ensure design meets SFC requirements.
  • Take part in Telecom Implementation of RF optimization Projects including Capacity Upgrade Projects andsupervision of Optimization contractors.
  • Take part in Implementation of other upgrade/telecoms works  including -   RF & Tx Upgrades to support new 2G& 3G sites rollout,  Tx optimization projects, Shelter reorganization, and Special projects in the region such asCustomer care shops transmission installations & Enterprise/Onecom installations support.
  • Undertake Integration & Commissioning of new BTS sites.
  • Installation & Commissioning of BSCs, Traus & LTGs.
  • Control Optimisation costs & budgets for handled projects.
  • Ensure the documentation and project updates is up to date.
  • Continuously review optimisation specifications/processes in view of making improvements.
Minimum requirements
  • Honors Degree in  Electrical & Electronics/ Telecommunications.
  • 3 years BTS network experience.
  • At least 2 years in GSM/Telecoms Implementation related works.
  • Project Management experience.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Radio Planning & Optimization RND Nairobi; the holder of the position will be in charge of Coordination of New sites planning; Capex management; People Management; Vendor Opcos relationships; Project management; Frequency plan management and guideline review; Managing Network Upgrade plans and traffic modeling; Nominal Cell planning and strategy guidelines; Coordinate testing and activation of new Features and Continuously monitor and advice on technological trends and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and timely equipment forecast for capacity Upgrades. Evaluate cost- benefit analysis for all capital spending  on tools and equipment.
  • Nominal site planning: (UMTS/GSM/LTE).
  • Define need for capacity, coverage and quality sites. Coordinate timely release of all new sites plans.
  • Ensure redesigns, integration parameters and BTS signoffs are issued in time.
  • Post-debar site evaluation to ensure optimal performance of all new sites.
  • Manage the regional team to optimize the radio network to the agreed capacity KPI’s.
  • Manage regional and inter frequency planning.
  • Provide equipment forecasting input, prepare accurate traffic model, plan and coordinate implementation of capacity upgrade plans.
  • Actively Participate in conferences, workshops, user groups, with relevance to planning . Always liaised with vendors on equipment roadmaps and new techniques etc.
  • Prepare training/ presentation on all key features learned in such workshops.
  • Manage trial test for new features borrowed from such conferences. Liaise with Vodafone Opcos and partner markets on planning best practices.
  • Coordinate documentation of key planning procedures.
  • Manage standardization of Vendor rules and standards.
  • Prepare project plans for all major projects.
  • Coordinate individual team members activities in a project to ensure timely delivery of project milestones and objectives.
  • Participate in formulation of  frequency planning guidelines and strategies and coordinate with optimization teams on periodic review of frequency plans for both existing and new sites.
  • Coordinating/participate trial in tests for new features, analyzing the effect of such features in the network and initiate the necessary amendments to the performance tools to ensure accurate reporting of statistics.
  • Participate and Coordinate MSV's, SAV's and indoor sites.
  • Release of Search areas, joint surveys etc. Issue appropriate alternative/replacement nominal as require.
  • Coordinate and approve required site sharing with other MSP. Participate in guidelines formulation and process review from time to time.
  • Ensure site sharing as far as possible to reduce on our capex/opex.

Minimum requirements

  •  Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Science, with an emphasis in Radio communications.
  • 3 years experiences in telecommunications with 2 years minimum hands–on experience in Radio Network Optimization, one of which must be in leading a major optimization program for rural and urban centers.
  • In depth knowledge of traffic modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency In use of planning tools and drive test analysis software.
  • Knowledge of 3G technology is a prerequisite.
