TECHNOLOGY SECURITY MANAGER

REF: TECHNOLOGY_ TSM _FEB 2012
Reporting to the Director; Technical & IT, the job holder will ensure adequate budget, resource and management of Technology security risks.  The job holder will also participate actively during the purchasing process for spend related to technology security activities and or products / solutions within Safaricom.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective capturing and monitoring of the functional technology risks and managing these on the company’s risk management platform.
  • Identify and promote industry best practice for technology security, and security risk management for the local market.
  • Implementation, monitoring and management of security aspects of IT infrastructure and applications including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and resolutions on all technical systems.
  • Ensuring the risk and operational requirements of technology security are effectively managed as well as driving forward the security strategic integration programmes within the technology function.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders, ensure adequate budget, resource and management focus on technology security risks.
  • Facilitate the development and review of security infrastructure, application, people and financial plans and policies in line divisional and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and manage a team to provide timely and comprehensive support to projects and internal business users on issues relating to IT Security. 
  • Development and analysis of relevant management reports on various key aspects of the section’s responsibilities.
 Minimum requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Eng/Computer Science/Technology Management.
  • Excellent network and IT security skills to enable the role holder to be viewed as a thought leader.
  • 10 years experience in a large IT environment with at least minimum of 5years Security experience.
  • Professional Security Qualification: CISSP/CISM.
  • Network Certification- CCNA.
  • Good communication and project skills.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Good management and leadership skills.
  • Analytical Thinking.
  • Stakeholder management at senior levels and high Customer center focused.
  • Experience of working in a service operational environment.

SENIOR PROJECTS OFFICER

REF: TECHNICAL_SPO_JAN_2012
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Projects and Planning; the holder of the position will provide project support services in the management and execution of IT projects; coordinate and manage projects assigned to ensure implementation within agreed timelines and processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • In association with project manager and stakeholders, refine project requirements, assumptions and constraints through communication with stakeholders and/or by reviewing project documents to baseline the scope of work and enable development of the execution plan.
  • Develop the resource management plan (Human Resource), by identifying resource requirements and obtaining commitments from internal, external, and procured sources to complete all project activities.
  • Refine project estimates in order to determine and define project baseline, schedule.
  • Establish project controls by defining the required correct processes, measures, and controls to manage project change, communications, procurement, risk, quality, and human resources to facilitate project executing and controlling processes, and to ensure compliance with generally accepted industry standards.
  • Develop a formal and comprehensive project plan by integrating and documenting project deliverables, acceptance criteria, processes, procedures, risks, and tasks to facilitate project executing, controlling, and closing processes.
  • Obtain project plan approval by reviewing the plan with the client and other required stakeholders to confirm project baselines prior to proceeding with project executing processes.
  • In liaison with Project manager & stakeholders, commit project resources in accordance with the project plan to ensure that all activities are performed.
  • Implement the project plan by ensuring the execution of project activities and tasks to produce project deliverables.
  • Manage project progress by ensuring that activities are executed as planned in order to achieve the project objectives.
  • Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support information to stakeholders.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures by performing project control activities to meet project objectives.
  • Measure project performance continually by comparing results to the baseline in order to identify project trends and variances.
  • Take timely corrective action by addressing the root causes in the problem areas in order to eliminate or minimize negative impact.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the corrective actions by measuring subsequent performance in order to determine the need further actions.
  • Ensure compliance with the change management plan by monitoring response to change initiatives in order to manage scope.
  • Reassess project control plans by scheduling periodic reviews in order to ensure their effectiveness and currency.
  • Respond to risk event triggers in accordance with the risk management plan in order to properly manage project outcomes.
  • Monitor project activity by performing periodic inspections to ensure that authorized approaches and processes are followed or to identify the need for corrective action.
  • Obtain final acceptance of deliverables by obtaining formal approval from appropriate stakeholders to achieve closeout.
  • Document lessons learned by surveying project team members and other relevant stakeholders to use for the benefit of future projects.
  • Facilitate administrative closure in accordance with the project plan in order to comply with organization and stakeholder requirements.
  • Preserve essential project records for future use to adhere to legal and other requirements.
  • Release project resources by following appropriate organizational procedures in order to optimize resource utilization.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BSc. in Computer Science / Business oriented degree.
  • Project Management Certification (PMI, Prince 2 Practitioner or equivalent) /Project Management expertise.
  • Other IT technical certification an advantage.
  • 3-4 years experience as an IT project manager in a busy IT environment.
  • Experience in running multiple projects spanning 2 to 6 months.
  • Planning and organization.
  • Experience as a projects team member in a large project preferably an IT project.
  • A good understanding of managing projects in a changing business environment.
  • Experience in providing administrative and project support.
  • Analytical thinking, Attention to details and Report writing skills.
  • Cross Functional & interdisciplinary awareness.

Reporting to the General Manager-Financial Services, the job holder will feed into the strategic planning process by providing analysis on an on-going basis of existing financial services, trends, proactively researching and informing the business of products and services to guide the division strategic planning process.

  • Prepare ongoing performance reports and highlight trends on business performance.
  • Prepare reports as and when required for regulatory and administrative purposes.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Honors degree from a recognized university preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics (statistics).
  • At least 6 years experience in a well run company serving in management handling business planning, financial analysis and budget management.
  • A  Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)  Level II qualification is an added advantage.
  • An MBA is an additional advantage.
  • Must have experience in preparation of budgets and forecasts in a large company.
  • Must have financial modeling experience, preferably in Excel or business objects.
  • Must have worked in computerized environment preferably with Oracle application.
  • The ideal candidate will also demonstrate self drive, initiative and team player attributes.
